Description:
This is an accompanied service, you will be escorted by our Bike Leader at a leisurely pace. We are fortunate to have an access to the forest less than 100 metres from the bike rental premises. Don’t be disheartened by the first 10 minutes – the beginning starts with a hill. Once you are up, it’s a pretty smooth ride from that point onwards.
The outward route is through the forest all the way… Upon arriving in Barbizon at around 11.30/11.45 you will have 2 hours free time. You can choose to:
:: take a walk around the scenic village, visit the boutiques & art galleries
:: enjoy a picnic or lunch in one of the tasty local restaurants (not included in price), in 2020, we recommend you book a restaurant in advance
:: visit the Auberge Ganne Barbizon School of Painters Museum (ticket not included in price)
The return trip takes involves some road cycling in Fontainebleau town. A 1.5 hour stop to visit the chateau (tickets not included), gardens (free entrance) or have a refreshment at your leisure. Then we cycle back through the park to Avon, the trip finishes 200 metres from the train station.
*The bike leader is not a guide, he/she is an English speaking staff member who will lead you at a leisurely pace.
